Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
For a long time I assumed that peace was determined by my circumstances. If everything was going on as expected, I was peaceful but when things were not as expected, I thought I had a cause to worry.
The kind of peace God gives is not dependent on our circumstances. It is based on our trust in God, that He would come through for us in whatever situation and not leave or forsake us. This peace can be acheived in every situation.
It is not denying the challenges or being ignorant of problems that we face. It is knowing that once we trust God, He is faithful to help us and that He will cause everything to work together for good even though things are not favourable.
Apostle Paul is someone who enjoyed the peace of God. He was judged, beaten, shipwrecked, imprisoned, broke, alone a lot of times and left for dead but He maintained His peace in Christ because He trusted God and walked with Him.
God has already given us His peace by the indwelling power of the Holyspirit if you are born again. When we genuinely trust God everygday and cast our cares to Him. His peace becomes more real to us. His peace would enable us do things we wouldn’t be able to do ordinarily in tough situations.
