Intercession

Heb 7:26

Here is the High Priest (Jesus Christ), perfectly adapted to our needs, as was fitting – holy, blameless, unstained by sin, separated from sinners, and exalted higher than the heavens.

The bible says that Jesus is our high priest and He makes intercession for us.

In the old covenant, the high priest made sacrifices for the sins of the people of Isreal and himself and were mortal. Jesus made an eternal sacrifice of himself once and forall and lives forever as our eternal high priest. He is not shortlived by death. As well, He is not encumbered by worldly cares as the other high priests were.

God has made him the perfect high priest for us so we would not need another. Isn’t it comforting to know that we are not alone going through life fightng our battles. Jesus is constantly interceeding on our behalf – praying for God’s will for us.

We also do not have a high priest that is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are – yet he did not sin. Heb 4:15. Jesus is not waiting around to criticize or condemn you when you fail. He understands your weaknesses and struggles and He is praying for you.

When Jesus predicted that He would be denied by Peter, Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail. He did not condemn or criticize Peter even though we might think He had a right to do so.

Thankfully, Peter later repented and continued to serve Christ. But that was because Christ prayed for Him.

Lets extend this attitude to each other and be rest assured that Jesus is with us in our battles.
