Thankfulness

1Thess 5:18

Thank God in everything no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

Having a thankful attitude is God’s will for us. It pleases God as it shows Him our gratefulness for what He has done, even while we wait on Him for other things. In every situation we face, there is always something we can be thankful for, no matter how little. It could be gratitude for having an effective transport system or a car on a very cold day. It could be security of living in a safe country even though you have to pay more taxes; or the ability and freedom to work even though you might not like waking up early in the morning to go to work.

Embracing a grateful attitude helps us see the positives in our situations and helps us enjoys things more than we would otherwise. It makes thougher situations for bearable. The next time you are tempted to feel hopless or miserable in a situation, think about the good things that could come out of that situation, and it would not be so horrible afterall.

An attitude of gratitide also makes the atmosphere more pleasant to be around. When you are grateful for people around you and things that you have, it make the atmosphere around you pleasant. A consistently thankful attitude is learned by practice. We have in our spirit thankfulness but if you feel you are not showing it as you shloud be, then choose to believe you have it in you and practice being thankful. Then, it becomes a habit.

Take some time out today to think about people and things that are good in your life and express your thankfulness to and about them.
