True Contentment

1 Tim 6:6

But Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Getting what we need is not the key to happiness. Happiness is learning to enjoy where we are while we wait and prepare for what we want or need.

We often give an excuse that we are not happy because we want something we do not have. But a short while after we get what we want, we become unhappy again about something else we want.

The truth is that when we determine in our hearts that we would not be happy until we get what we want, we form a habit of choosing sadness. And when we get what we want, we would find something to be sad about because its now a habit.

True contentment is a choice and we can learn to harness it by first trusting God for what we do not have and keeping an attitude of thankfulness for what He has given us.
