A Patient Attitude

Ephesians 4:2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

Grace is God’s undeserved favour towards us. When we give our life to Christ, we begin a process of sanctification, where our behaviours and attitudes are changed slowly into the likeness of Christ. This happens as we spend time in God’s word and our minds are being renewed by His word.
During the process of santification, God is usually very patient with us Ps 86:15, He does not condemn us when we fall. John 16:8 God corrects us through a process call conviction – which is a gentle nudge in our hearts to convince us of His truth. He doesnt impose or force the truth on us even though it is in our best interest.
God desires that we love and obey Him by choice not by compulsion. The devil accuses and brings condemnation on people when they make mistakes but thats not God’s way.
When we receive God’s love, we are able to extend this same grace to others when they are in error. We cannot give grace if we do not receive it from God. The bible encourages us to correct in love. Being aware of our shortcomings and God’s patience with us, helps us extend that same patience to others.
God’s grace doesn’t only correct but it also enables us to make the right choices. God doesnt see us as failures and unchanging. He believes the best of us. He see us through Christ, forgiven and new 2 Cor 5:17, and He transforms us everyday as we trust in Him.

Eze 36:26, 2Cor 3:18, 1 Cor 15:10, Rom 12:2

  1. That’s why His love is unconditional… Nice one Abby. This should help people understand part of God’s love and help them read more of His word.

  2. Praise God. Thank you Abby for your submission, it is inspiring. I understand that one of the greatest gift of God to man is the power of choice but as a loving father that He is, He has also pointed out the best option(s) to us while not imposing (Deut. 30:19). I thank God for His grace He has so lavished on me and choosing me in Christ even before i realized that it will be the only thing that matters in life (Rom. 8:29). Now i realize theres only one way to live and that is to bring glory to God in everyway which includes walking in love because thats the only thing that matters. So i go about it with deliberate effort knowing that it is my responsibility as God has already given me the best choice.
    Thanks again Abby.
