We love because He first loved us
1 John 4:19
God loves us unconditionally, not based on our performances, appearances or accomplishments. In fact He loves us at our worst, when we are self-seeking and indifferent towards Him.
Love is who God is not what He does. God’s love is seen very evidently in His mercy and forgiveness everyday. Despite our short comings, in and out, He doesnt withold the sun from shinning or snuff out our breath during the night, He continues to answer our prayers.
God wants us to love ourselves and others just as He loves us. In fact He put His love in our hearts by the Holy Spirit that indwells us. When we spend time with God become more like Him and learn to love like He does. It does not mean that we do not feel hurt by or shouldn’t address wrongdoing, but we can and should choose to love people, in spite of how we are treated.
When we truly understand how much God loves us and we let His love move us, we would not hold back from others, as we would want them to experience the same. Its not our place to demand love from others. Its ours to love others as He loves us. But we cannot do this without a relationship with Him.
When you are tempted to hold back kindness, mercy, forgiveness and grace; think about what you have done to deserve His’ everyday in your life.
I pray this prayer sincerely from my heart for me and you, that out of His glorious riches Christ may strengthen us with power through His Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. And I pray that we, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
